Holy Week
“What is man that you take thought of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Psalms 8:4
As we are already halfway through Holy Week we know that we will reflect on the dramatic events of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday and celebrate Easter in totally different ways this year. We will not witness in person moving Office of Tenebrae services tomorrow or poignant Friday services with their haunting hymns. Easter egg hunts will be confined to the backyards instead of sprawling church grounds.
Instead, we will make the best of what we have and take advantage of the amazing world of electronics to bring us together and to convey the beautiful message of Christ’s sacrifice for us and the hope inherent in The Resurrection. God has endowed us with the capacities to do great things to serve one another in ways that are needed the most. As the Psalmist said, “You have made him (man) a little lower than God, and you crown him with glory and majesty.”
Let us be thankful that God gave men and women the ability to create such marvelous technology. Think of where we be without it today. Let us be grateful that we have this medium today to share the wonderful news: Christ is risen!
May God bless you and your families this special week.
Prayer: Dear God, may we be ever so grateful today for the incredible technology at our disposal so that we may share in the Good News of the risen Christ with one another. In His name we pray. Amen.
