Lean on Me
“Trust in the Lord with all thy heart and do not lean on your own understanding.” We have frequently heard the song, “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers in the last couple weeks as a reminder that we need each other in times of stress and uncertainty. Although many times in life we think we can “go it alone” during a crisis and weather the storm ourselves, the Lord wants us to come to an understanding that we need each other and, most importantly, that we need Him.
Bill Withers reminds us: “If there is a load you have to bear that you can’t carry, I’m right up the road, I’ll share your load.”
We share each other’s loads, especially this week when the news will probably get worse before it gets better. And we have the trust that the Lord will share our loads if we just “lean on Him.”
Keep the faith.
Prayer: Gracious God, help us to trust in You and others and to not lean on only our own understanding, but on your own special care and the love of our families and friends. Amen.
