Staying Positive
“...whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Philippians 4:8
UPS driver Andrew Mendoza looks for the positive in the smallest of things. I read yesterday in the WSJ that before the pandemic Mr. Mendoza was delivering about 160 packages a day, now he is delivering 190 or more, working 12-hour days. He said that his mother has a saying: “Today is a good day for a good day.”
Now he’s been saying that a lot to himself with the feeling that it is a scary time, but also a time when he can help others. He said: “...if I have the opportunity to bring light into somebody’s day by delivering something they’ve been waiting for or having an upbeat conversation with them on their doorstep, that’s what I’m going to do.”
May we make it a point to discover the good in each day as we look for ways to reach and help others.
Prayer: Gracious God, in a time when there are no road maps to lead us out of this crisis, help us to look for the glimmers of hope that come our way every day. We pray this in your name. Amen.
